Sharing my Favorite Authors

For this edition I felt inspired to share some of my favorite writers, because I recently added one to my list! It's been a while since I found an author that I wanted to read more of, and I know it can sometimes be a challenge to find good books.

This particular author is from Minnesota and her name is Abby Jimenez. She is a Food Network Winner, USA Today and New York Times bestselling author, 2022 Minnesota Book Award recipient, and founder of Nadia Cakes bakeries.

The same day I saw her be featured on Good Morning America because her book, Just for the Summer, had been chosen for their April GMA Book Club, my sister sent me a Facebook message sharing the same book title suggestion, then I hopped onto my Book of the Month App to make my selection which only carries 5-7 titles each month to choose from, and the SAME Abby Jimenez book appeared there, too! It was fate. I was going to read my first Abby Jimenez book.

I ordered Just for the Summer as my book of the month selection, but also grabbed another title of hers from the public library. I didn't realize it was part of a series though, so I actually read book two first. That one was called Yours Truly, and I should have read A Part of Your World first, but in the end, book two still made sense, though I may have enjoyed it a little more since several characters from book one were mentioned.

Her writing style reminded me of Emily Henry, Katherine Center, and Jojo Moyes all mixed together. While reading Yours Truly, I was taken on an emotional ride. She made my heart break right along with her main characters, and did a great job putting it back together again. I loved reading about local places she mentioned in Minnesota, and even though it's fiction, it's fun to read about places you know. I am looking forward to starting Just for the Summer next!

Below are a list of authors I love, and which books of theirs I would recommend. *I haven't read every book ever written by each of them, so certainly there could be more!

Kristin Harmel: The Book of Lost Names
