Meet My Cast of Characters

I’m so excited to introduce you to Hannah Thompson, Charlie Wyatt, and Paige & Ryan Sullivan!

These four have lived in my mind for over three years. You may recall I started my initial draft of this book at the height of the pandemic---March of 2020. I was potty training my toddler while trying to teach full-time zoom Spanish classes, a nightmare in itself. Much like my characters, I went on a unique journey to get where I am today. They evolved over the course of the book and I cannot wait to see which character you relate most to!

Taking center stage in chapter one is Hannah Thompson. She's an aspiring songwriter, and a talented one at that. She graduated from Belmont University and is working as a bartender in Nashville while she chases her dream career. She's a natural beauty, but her past romantic relationships have left her questioning her worth. To put it simply, she has always felt like there was something unlovable about her, which stems from her complicated relationship with her mother, Susan, and a college boyfriend that made her feel like she was never good enough.

Alongside her is Charlie Wyatt. Charlie's family dynamics are quite different than Hannah's with a dad in politics and real estate; his family expects a lot of him and he's always met their standards. He's also pretty sure his father has employed some tactics that toe the line of morality to get where he is today in his career. Though Charlie has enjoyed a fairly smooth ride to popularity in the world of country music, he's tired of romances with women who are using him for clout. He wants to be loved for who he is as a person, not for his fame.

Next we have Paige and Ryan Sullivan. Paige is an elementary school teacher, Ryan is a brainiac computer programmer. They've been married for almost a decade and have faced years of infertility. They are on a journey to adopt a child. Paige isn't sure she can handle the uncertainty that adoption brings---especially a closed adoption like the prospective birth mother is wanting. Ryan will do anything to help Paige see that she is capable of handling the process and wants to see her dreams of motherhood come true.

It may seem that Paige and Ryan have nothing in common with Hannah and Charlie, but their worlds will collide in the first 1/3 of the book, and the women will grow a deep friendship as they navigate the trials and tribulations of their lives.

My novel alternates chapters between the worlds of Hannah and Paige, weaving a tale of friendship that stands the test of time. When secrets from Charlie's past threaten to ruin his career, will Hannah stay by his side? Will Paige finally become a mother? I take you to the last pages of the book to complete the journey of each of these characters, and I hope you'll be inspired by the final outcome!
